GGD 10 Now Taking Bookings!

Roll up roll up for GGD #10 on Friday 17th May! We’re aiming for Pizza Express, or Clowns if the numbers are very large. Either way, expect tasty Italian food and wine aplenty! If you can make it, please fill out this poll by noon on Monday 13th May, stating dietary requirements, and sent £15 by Paypal to the email address on the poll quoting your name and reference ‘GGD’. Remember, payment secures your place! Any questions, ping us a comment or email to girlgeekdinnerscambridge at gmail dot com.

Look forward to seeing you all!

UPDATE: We’re keeping booking open until next week now. Please spread the word and signalboost, and get signing up by Monday! We only have 5 people so far…

GGD #10- It’s Good To Talk

…as Bob Hoskins once said in a famous telephone-based advert, and we’d like to hear you do just that! The survey for the 10th dinner is up to gather your ideas for dates and venues, and we’re looking for the best way to keep in touch with you. Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, email, phone or good old fashioned snailmail, we want to know! Your details will not be shared with any third parties; they’re only for our GGD records so we can keep you in the loop.

The survey can be found here. Spread the word, get voting, the survey closes on Saturday 27th. Let’s make this bigger and better, ladies!

GGD- (Virtual) Parish Meeting!

Ladies! It’s time to plan the next GGD meetup, now that we know Ichiro does the tastiest mochi in town! We didn’t get many responses to the last dinner, and with over 100 people in the group we’d like to know if there’s maybe a better way of reaching you all than a place you might not check very often.

Currently there’s the Facebook group, a Twitter account and a WordPress blog. Other places that we could consider contacting potential guests on might include Livejournal/Dreamwidth, specific organisation forums, mailing lists or good old-fashioned paper (flyers/posters). Any suggestions as to what you might prefer?

If we expand the number of guests enough, it might also be good to consider corporate sponsors to subsidise the cost of food and drink. I know some of our ladies feel priced out of some venues we use, so any way we could bring the cost down would be great. Again, any leads you might have are most welcome and will go in the giant spreadsheet of doom!

We’ll take any suggestions on board before polling for the next dinner dates. GGDs are only a success if we have your support, and without it we wouldn’t have much of a network of great ladies. Please offer up your thoughts below or on the Twitter @ggdcambridge, and your chief GGD wrangler will process them over a large gin and tonic x

GGD #8- Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference

The votes are in, and the eighth GGD meal will be at Churchill College at 7:30 on Friday 1st February! Come out and play!

We now implement a pre-pay system for the dinners, so if you would like to come, please BACS £12 to the following account by the end of this week:

Account no.: 10150069

Sortcode: 83-51-00

Please mark your payment reference ‘GGD’ so we can track our guest list. Please also get in touch if you have any special dietary needs, as Churchill are pretty awesome at accommodating everything!

It’s a three course meal, BYOB, and I’ll be bringing some wine for which a contribution would be gratefully received.

See you at the Porter’s Lodge, wine in hand!

GGD #8: New Year edition!

Happy New Year!

Here is the poll link: http://doodle.com/9mb6b9zwe93enu8b

By popular demand, I will see if I can get hold of the lovely rosé Aldi wine from last time! Good times!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the cocktails are delightful

Ahoy!

The GGD Christmas drinks will be on Friday the 21st of December at Hidden Rooms. Come and have a 2-for-1 cocktail or three, and a spot of pizza too! As it’s an informal event, partners are welcome too. Just so we have an idea of numbers, please go here before Thursday 20th and fill out the poll. Hope to see lots of members old and new there!

Reminder: GGD 7 tonight!

Afternoon ladies!

Apologies for the radio silence, your chief wrangler was in the throes of job interviews, which have been successful! So tonight’s dinner will be something of a celebration. Those of you who signed the Doodle poll, meet us in the main corridor of Churchill College at 7:10, for a 7:30 dinner in the Club Room. Bring £12 for your lovely three course dinner, and if you’d like wine a contribution would be grateful, I’ll bring more than enough for us all :)

Also, date for your diaries- our Christmas drinks will be on Friday, 21st December at Hidden Rooms from 7:00pm. We’ve reserved a large booth and it’s 2-for-1 cocktails until 10pm, plus you can order food from Pizza Express and have it brought down! A Doodle poll will be up soon…

Signing off!

GGD #7: You Do The Math

Morning ladies!

GGD #7 is here, on Friday 23rd November at 7:30pm. We have Carola Bibian-Schonlieb as our guest speaker, who works at the Cambridge maths department and is passionate about getting women into maths!

We have a Doodle poll for the event at this page. Please add your name and tick if you can make it to the dinner. If you have special dietary needs please get in touch by email, Twitter or Facebook. If we are less than 12 we’ll have our usual CB2 buffet, but if we get more than that I’m planning a special three course college dinner at Churchill which will be only £12 a head. Come on ladies, let’s make this a special one!
